Welcome to our web site!
We thank you for visiting our web site. Hot Springs Citizens for Progress is a 501(c)3 non-profit charity founded in Hot Springs South Dokota in 2004. We recieved our IRS designation letter as a 501(c)3 public charity in 2005. Our purpose is simple, we are saving the treasures of our past for the future generations to enjoy and experience. We consider ourselved the stewarts of the past and wish to save those historical midwest buildings and homes in danger of being lost forever. We have created this website in a effort to bring more interested and understanding to the plite of historical buildings threw out the midwest and our efforts to save what we can. You will see our projects as the progress from start to finish. You will be able to give advice, donation, or just observe as we strive to stop the destruction of these simple but important buildings and homes. Most of our projects are simple structures without any national note or historical signicance on their own, but they represent the way buildings where constructed, designed and looked for that era and place. Once gone all we will have is fancy buildings and mansions that will give our future generations a distorted look at our past. Like movies where even the poor have giant homes the truth is so much different. To be good stewards of our past we must do more than take photos and write books, we must save as much as we can for the future to marval and enjoy. Once gone these buildings are gone forever and ever day more and more of our past slips away because we dont see the damage we are doing and the history we are losing. We are a small and simple charity focused on our mission, we dont have the staff or income to have a professional web designer or manager so please be patient as we upgrade and update our site.(testing)
We take an enormous pride in our projects, and hope that you'll find something on our web site that you like. If you are wondering why everything is so large of a font on here its because our web guy needs glasses.
We are a charity and appreate any donations we receive. All donations are both state and federal tax deductable. You may send money orders, cashiers check or personal checks from national banks to our main office.
Many of these projects are new to our organization, all appear as pictured below. Many suffer from stuctural problems that must be corrected before exterior work can be performed. These photos will be updated when the outside appearance changes and more will be added as we recieve other projects. These photos serve as a reminder to the condition our historical buildings are in now or have become due to neglect. To see more about each project click on photo of the building/project you are interested in. This will take you to the project page. The project page will have more information about each building, photos as it is now as well as links so you can view what the current project is as well as photos of any previous projects as it was being done.
Do to the nature of our charity, we work on the buildings during the summer months and write grants/fundraising during the winter months. We can always be reached by email but delays may occure during the summer season. Donations or inquires can be sent by mail to private mail box. Any request for information must be done by mail and accompained by self addressed, stamped, return envelope.
