Welcome to Laurel Music Studio, a community resource for private and small group music education, as well as Musikgarten preschool classes!
My vision is that with our excellent and caring teachers and our affordable prices, we can create a foundation of children and adults who are inspired by the great art of music in the community. Through that inspiration, as well as their hard work, the community will receive the gift of not only their music-making, but many other gifts as well, especially as comes from the children: The gift of a sense of accomplishment; the gift of discipline; the gift of empathy and unity.... making music with others gives one such an amazing sense of interconnection! And there's more: the gift of expression, the gift of problem solving and pattern recognition, of higher functions. Just think of what your brain must do to learn to play piano, for instance: you not only must read notes, but rhythms, dynamics, and articulation, and then play a different set of each in separate hands at the same time! And from this... comes an amazing sound, a sound no other creature in this world knows how to create.
Music is magic meets logic, the perfect blend of two usually very different ways of experiencing the world! Our community can only benefit from having an entire generation of children grow from such an experience.
I hope you will consider becoming part of this foundation, this community resource. There is so much to gain from it!

Take guitar lessons today! A personal message from Mark Henjum, guitar:
"Because the guitar is such a social instrument, I teach students how to play music that can be useful and fun in all kinds of get-togethers with people. It is also rewarding as a solitary pursuit. Students become aware that they are able to make progress through investments of practice and lessons. If you have ever thought about taking lessons, why not give it a try now? Take as few or as many lessons as you want its up to you. Call or email me to find out more about getting started."
Mark is available to teach 5:30-8:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursday. Email Mark to set up lessons:mark@markhenjum.com
