My grandfather, William H. Young, started in the plumbing business after serving in the Navyduring WW II. At one point, my father and his four siblings were actively involved as well. Bill Young Plumbing and Heating operated until about 1985 when it was closed after my grandfather's death. At that time, my father, William L. Young Jr., was running a mechanical contracting firm with his brothers Ron and Tim, which they started in 1982. I started at Bill Young Plumbing in 1978 as a stocker and housekeeper working every summer, some weekends, and during days off from school. My grandfather taught me the simplest and most important of all business values: "Do the job right the first time and you won't have to do it again...". I still operate under that philosophy to this day.
I worked for my father in just aboutevery capacity of our craft until July of 2003 when I decided to start Apex Mechancial. In the 5 years we've been in business, I've learned the importance of listening to the customer and fulfilling their needs in an expeditious and cost-conscious manner. Although my father retired in 2006, I still call uponhim foradvice now and then.
