YEAR END AWARDS BANQUET ANNOUNCEMENT
Just a note to let everyone know that we will be having our 2010 Meeting and Year-End Award Banquet this year at the Clackamas County Fair Grounds in Canby Oregon on November 13th. It is a very nice hall and it will be catered. It will hold up to 150 people. It has plenty of parking and even RV sites (water & power only). Price of the dinner per person will be provided as soon as we have the information available. There is a hotel in town as well and the information will be in the NEWS.
ATTENTION AMHA YOUTH EXHIBITORS!!
In memory of the late Ronnie Reece, the American Miniature Horse Association awards the Reece Family Youth Award. This award is generously sponsored by Dalmar Miniatures, Marlene Smith and Dale Ferrebee and Homestead Acres, Margaret Kloman and Kim and Jerry Huddleston. The award is given to an AMHA youth member who displays qualities of leadership, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm through the whole year. The recipient will be someone whom other youth look to for guidance and support. The winner receives a trophy and a custom belt buckle.
One nominee will be accepted from each AMHA sanctioned local club. Individuals may submit separate applications as well. The attached application must be returned to the AMHA office by September 15, 2010. The winner will be announced at the World Show during the Youth Awards Ceremony 4 and their photo will appear in the December/January issue of Miniature Horse World. The NOMINATION FORM is attached.
Please take the time to recognize a youth member from your area that you feel embodies the spirit of this award. Please call or email us if you have any questions. We appreciate your input.
The NWMHC continues to provide educational events such as our standard spring-time clinic at the Cowlitz County Fairgrounds and also A Weekend With Portia Kalinka, renowned judge. Both events were great successes with many participants. It will be exciting to see how our amateur owners and handlers grow as a result of these experiences! With all of the sponsored educational and fun events, such as the Trail Driving Event at Happs in Ethel, WA... not to mention the shows and wonderful Year-End Awards programs, being a member has great benefits. Come join in the fun!
If you are not yet a member of the largest and most dynamic Miniature Horse Club in the Northwest,
isn't it time to consider joining now?
The Northwest Miniature Horse Club was founded in the early 1980's. Since that time, as interest in miniature horses has bloomed, the club has also grown to a large and active membership. We welcome new members and encourage anyone with an interest in miniature horses to contact us. You will find useful information on our website, including contact information for members, classified ads, miniature horse history and information, schedules of events, futurity information, show schedules, and much, much more! Please enjoy your visit with our club.
Today the NWMHC sponsors five shows throughout Washington and Oregon. We promote interest in showing miniature horses with our schooling clinic held early each year. This clinic is followed closely by a schooling show where miniature horse owners can practice the skills they learned before competing in an official AMHA or AMHR show.
Northwest breeders have produced some of the top driving horses on both the AMHA and AMHR show circuits. Some of the best driving trainers in the industry call the Pacific Northwest their home. Many of them are members of the Northwest Miniature Horse Club. We take pride in the fact that so many champion driving horses come from the Pacific Northwest.
So, what can you do with a miniature horse? Just contact any Northwest Miniature Horse Club member for the answer to that question! From parades to shows, birthday parties to nursing home visits, the miniature horse is a beautiful, dynamic solution for anyone who longs for that special relationship between an animal and a human
