A Message from Dave Kelly
My name is David Kelly. My law office is in Minnetonka, Minnesota, near St. Louis Park, Plymouth and Golden Valley, Minnesota. I have been helping clients in the Twin Cities - Minneapolis area for over thirty years with their financial hardships, filing Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy - and truth be known, with quite a bit more than that. If you are looking at this page, you may have experienced something difficult and unpleasant, and I know that you probably wish that you didn't need to call me. Please know that my satisfaction comes from finding a way to either make your problem go away or at least make the problem as small as possible. When you call me or meet with me, I will personally evaluate your situation and make a realistic recommendation based upon the facts, the laws that apply and the time and expense required by the possible remedies. I will let you choose which of my services will be of most benefit to you, so you can keep the cost as low as possible. There is no cost for a telephone consultation with me, so you have nothing to loose by contacting me.
You might want to think of this page and this URL as historic. It can be traced back to the first web site I launched in 1996. There's not nearly as much here as there was at one time, since most of my material is now posted at a separate bankruptcy-related site at mn-bankruptcy.com. At one time I was a general practitioner, and practiced in quite a few legal areas. As the years have gone by, however, I have gradually narrowed what I do until finally I can say that bankruptcy is all I am doing. If you see any references to me doing other things, that is old material. I've been trying to edit that out, but it's easy to miss some.
In my earlier days, while in the Navy, I served as "Legal Officer" in Vietnam for a construction battalion. When I was still in law school, I had jobs working at the State Public Defender's office and at the U.S. Attorney's office. I started my career after law school with a firm that required me, among other things, to do objections to bankruptcy discharges. I soon decided that I would much rather represent debtors so I could be of service to people who needed help. I was also on the public defender's conflict of interest panel for Ramsey County Juvenile Court.
When I opened my own office I accepted nearly everything that came in the door for many years, and did volunteer work many evenings at a free legal clinic. For over a decade I did part-time service as a settlement arbitrator at the Hennepin County Family Court, and also as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. All of this gave me an unusually broad range of experience.
There are certain things which nobody should try to handle on their own, and you may seriously hurt yourself if you try. The best decision you can make may be to call or email me.
