We offer vaccination discounts
our special offers.
Regularly scheduled visits are highly recommended for preventative procedures including: vaccinations, dental care, heartworm tests and examination for internal and external parasites. If your pet is injured or becomes ill, we are on call, 24-hours a day, for emergencies. We utilize our complete diagnostic capabilities to identify the problem as quickly and accurately as possible. Electrocardiograms, radiographs, blood profiles, bacteriology and other laboratory tests may be used to reach a diagnosis and develop a prognosis. The resulting treatment, whether medical or surgical, will be based on sound medical principals. Every attempt is made to help pet’s live long, comfortable and healthy lives.
In addition to pet health care services, we offer full boarding services for dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and exotics. We carry a full line of veterinary prescription foods for your pet’s specific medical condition and stage of life. Nutritional supplements, vitamins, flea control products and dental health products are also available.
The staff of doctors, certified veterinary technicians, technicians, assistants, receptionists and kennel care attendants at Grand Rapids Veterinary Clinic offer your pet a home away from home. Our staff is well trained and give individual attention to all your animal’s needs. Our veterinarians have a variety of interests and specialized skills. Consultation is used frequently within our own group as well with specialists outside our practice. We belong to local, state and national veterinary associations. Regular attendance at continuing education seminars keeps us up to date with new ideas, techniques and treatments.
We Are AAHA Accredited
We make it our life’s work to respect and honor the special bond you have with your pet. Our accreditation thru AAHA shows our commitment to provide the very best health care possible. Through AAHA’s on-site evaluation program, we undergo periodic, detailed on-site evaluation of more than 800 standards of veterinary care. Only 14% of the small-animal practices in the United States and Canada have received AAHA accreditation. We believe accreditation keeps us on the leading edge and focused on providing you and your pet with the quality health care services you need and expect.
When you bring your animal in for an appointment, he or she may be a little uneasy around new people and other animals. We ask that you restrain your pet by using either a leash or a pet carrier before entering the waiting room.
To allow ample time for each patient and scheduled surgical procedure, we operate by appointment. Occasionally an emergency arises, or a pet with severe illness takes longer to treat than was planned, so sometimes an appointment delay occurs. We will make a sincere attempt to see each client on time and appreciate your calls to us if an appointment needs to be changed.
Communication is an important aspect of our service. If at any time, you have a problem, question or complaint, please notify us. We appreciate constructive suggestions that help us improve our services to you. You can email us using our contact form, or you may call us at 1-800-858-1312.
Dr. Neitzke Retires
Dr. Dennis Neitzke retired Dec. 31, 2008 after 32 years in veterinary medicine. Dr. Neitzke graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota in 1976. After graduation, he joined his brother, Dr. John Neitzke, and Dr. Byron Sugden in mixed animal practice in Grand Rapids.
Dr. Neitzke was instrumental in the expansion of the veterinary clinic, both to its current location and in establishing a satellite clinic in Longville, MN. He coordinated the clinic’s initial accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association in 2002.
Over the years, many patients benefitted from Dr. Neitzke’s exceptional diagnostic and surgical abilities. He created many lasting friendships and memories in his nearly 30 years of veterinary medicine practice. He continues to “pop into the clinics” now and then, so watch for him the next time you are here, and feel free to congratulate him on a well-deserved retirement.
The current staff express their sincere thanks to Dr. Neitzke for his many years of dedication, hard work and enjoyment he provided all of us.
