Built in 1881 by lumber-baron William Sauntry (a first cousin of entertainer Bing Crosby), whose life was truly a rags-to-riches story, this 7,000 square foot home reflects his eccentricities and penchant for opulence. The William Sauntry Mansion has been fully restored and guests experience modern comforts, combined with the nostalgia of Victorian splendor, for an unforgettable vacation experience - Minnesota lodging at it's finest.
Amenities in all rooms include private bath with double whirlpool, fireplace and air conditioning, stereo with CD player and IPod connection, and king or queen bed. Additionally, Tylo Swedish steam shower (Madame LaFuegy & Joseph Room), free wireless internet, and TV/game room represent our attempt to merge the historical splendor of the Sauntry Mansion with the 21st Century.
A four course gourmet breakfast is served (on the front Veranda, weather permitting). At check in, wine and cheese reception is provided and can be enjoyed while relaxing on the Veranda or in our gardens which include a replica of the Alhambra Palace Moorish fountain and fern/hosta dale.
Tom and Sandy welcome you to the Sauntry Mansion. As innkeepers of the Sauntry since 1999, we will make your stay in Stillwater one of the most relaxing and enjoyable getaways youve had.
