A Note from the Office
Fall activities are in full swing and the church is buzzing with all the activities! We have numerous groups and organizations using space in the church to meet and gather. We have a pre-school that meets weekly, driving education class, barbershop choirs, theater groups, music lessons, AA groups, cub scouts, girl scouts, etc, etc, etc. This does not even include all the WBC activities! As you can tell, scheduling is a must! If you want to use a room or equipment please contact the church office to check on availability at 651-738-7700 or e-mail office@woodburybaptist.org. If we all work together we know everyone can benefit from all the hospitality that WBC extends!

This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals and families to transform an empty shoebox into a sign of Gods love with gifts and the Gospel message for needy children all over the world. Last year some 8 million shoeboxes were collected and distributed to 98 countries. Empty shoe boxes and instructional brochures will be distributed and are available in the foyer. Filled shoeboxes will be collected here at WBC on Sunday, November 21st. Please plan on being a part of this outreach ministry.

What can you EXPECT from attending a Walk Thru the Bible Old Testament Seminar???
Have you ever said or heard someone else say that the Old Testament is confusing? Although many know the general chronology of Genesis, it's hard for most to put all of the people and events of the entire Old Testament together. Many believe it would take years to understand. After all, there are: 39 books; 929 chapters and 23,214 verses in the Old Testament.
What if we told you that you and everybody in your church could memorize the key characters, places, events, and themes of the Old Testament in five action-packed hours? Wouldn't that be something that could benefit the whole church for years to come?

More than 1.5 million people have taken this walk before you, making the Walk Thru the Old Testament seminar one of the most attended seminars of all time. It's successful because it doesn't bog down with tedious note taking and rote memorization. Instead, participants will be delightfully caught up in a highly creative, interactive learning adventure that's as fun as it is effective.

During this time, attendees will meet Bible characters in an up-close and personal way and enjoy every minute of it. It's as easy and pleasant as taking a walk. Thousands of years of history and scores of famous names and places will be their companions, and a wealth of new insights and understanding their destination.

In just a few action-packed hours, you will memorize more than they ever dreamed possible by using hand motions, catch phrases, and group review. By the end of the day, you'll be able to:

Grasp the special messages and meanings of Old Testament characters, places, and events.

Trace major geographical movements on a giant map made from the people attending the seminar.

One pastor accurately summed up his experience by saying, "I gained more from this seminar in terms of really understanding the relationship of events and people than I had previously learned in seven years of college and seminary study." !

Adult Education Opportunities
EXPLORING THE WAY: INTRODUCTION TO THE SPIRITUAL JOURNEY - A seven-week adult spiritual formation class. The premise behind the class is that each of us hungers to be close to God. The spiritual journey is the process of drawing close to God to feed that hunger. The class will introduce the basic concepts of the Christian spiritual life and help you connect them to your daily experiences. Class is limited to 12 participants and the cost of the book is $12.50. Led by Elaine Ann e MacGregor , Room # 6
ESTHER The Story You THINK You Know! Esther - the story you THINK you know! Do you know the various themes that run through the Book of Esther? Can you explain how Culture, Character and Conflict drive Esther's story? What about the decisions made by the characters in Esther; what criteria was used to inform these decisions? These topics and more will find there way into our discussions each week. Our goal is to rediscover this story and identify new and interesting ways of incorporating the truths of Esther's story to our own walks of faith. Led by Wayne Ramsden - Novels Room # 5
JOHN, THE BELOVED DISCIPLES GOSPEL - This Bible Study will examine and reflect on the journey of the disciple John as he experienced Christ and wrote his Gospel, proclaiming Jesus identity as the eternal Word of God. The format will be from the Serendipity Bible of opening questions of our own stories that relate to the passage; digging deeper into the Scripture with explorative questions and then reflective questions to apply insights into our story and life experience. Facilitators: Dave and Carol Cline; JoAnn Hansen and Lee Cummins - Classics Room # 4

LEADING LIKE JESUS IN THE HOME AND CHURCH This 10-week group study may be the most unusual you ever take part in. It will challenge the wisdom of conventional leadership models and offer a distinctly Christian approach that develops the spiritual and emotional strength needed to resist the strong currents and winds that push us off course in our families and fellowship. (Also offered Wednesday night) Led By: Pastor Greg Cooper, Fellowship Hall
