Bound in contemporary speckled calf with gilt tooling on spine, raised bands, floral design on endpapers, all edges red. Some ubbing on covers. First title-page printed in red and black. Text clean. An attractive set. Bruno was born at Solero, Italy in 1049 and later entered the Benedictine order. He was counselor to four popes and was ordained bishop of Segni in 1080 by Gregory VII. He fought simony and lay investiture and later in life served as the Vatican librarian. He was canonized in 1183 by Pope Lucius III.
