Salem Lutheran Church has been a ministry presence on St. Clouds Eastside for over 125 years. Swedish immigrants established Salem in 1883 as a congregation where those immigrants could worship using their native tongue and maintain the faith life in this community of the Lutheran Church of Sweden. Today, 125 years later, Salem reflects a wide ranging diversity which has opened the doors for a variety of local and global mission and ministry opportunities.
The immigrant founders of Salem instilled three core values that would become part of the DNA of Salem. Those values include:
1. mission and ministry to those outside the congregation in the name

2. providing Christian Education opportunities for the children of the
community and the congregation, and,
3. building community around Christ centered worship.
Those values continue to guide Salems life and mission to this day. Salems mission is Making Jesus Known. The Salem faith community seeks to make Jesus known by being the heart of the Lord Jesus in the heart of the city and the world.
Salem is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
