I provide lessons in piano and voice to beginning and intermediate students of all ages. I offer 30 minute lessons for piano and 30 or 60 minute lessons for voice and in those lessons focus on practice technique, sight-reading and ear training as well as musicianship, performance skills and overall sound.
I use Music Ace Maestro computer program to aid my students in learning music theory and technique. If your student is waiting for his or her lesson, the computer is available to learn on! It is an engaging way to learn some important rules of music!
My studio is OPEN during the summer! Do you feel like 3 months is a long time to take a break from lessons? I teach 12 months out of the year, so rest assured that your students will be able to continue their learning throughout the hot summer months!
To provide voice and piano students the tools and skills to become lifelong musicians while improving performance and practice techniques.
Hailing from Red Wing, Minnesota, I have been singing since I could speak and playing the piano since I was five. I graduated Cum Laude from The College of Wooster in Ohio with a Bachelor of Music Education, with an emphasis in voice and piano. Immediately after graduation I traveled with Up With People, an educational performing group based in Colorado. I then taught briefly in Red Wing before moving to Washington, D.C. to teach at Maret School. Teaching music and choir to grades 1-3 and 5-9 was exciting and busy, but I was anxious to add private teaching to my list of activities! After building up a studio of voice and piano students in DC, I was excited to move back to Minnesota and teach privately full time.
Along with teaching, I enjoy performing and was recently in productions of "Thoroughly Modern Millie" in Osseo, MN, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" in Minneapolis and "The Wizard of Oz" in Osseo, MN. Prior to that, I played Irene Molloy in a production of "Hello Dolly!" in Edina and before that participated in community theater in DC as well, where I played the role of Sandy in "Grease."
Great art is as irrational as great music. It is mad with its own loveliness.
