Legal Assistance of Dakota County, Ltd. nominates attorney Christine J. Cassellius for recognition by the Minnesota Supreme Court based on her significant contributions to serving the legal needs of low-income clients in Dakota County.

After a two-day summary jury trial, attorneys Robert B. Bauer and Jessica L. Sanborn assisted homeowners in obtaining a $195,000 settlement from the City of Farmington, Barbarossa & Sons, Inc., and Northern Dewatering, Inc. The homeowners' asserted the claim for relief when their home was damaged by the City’s Main Street Reconstruction Project.

Attorneys Loren M. Solfest and Jessica L. Sanborn successfully opposed an appeal by a developer against a homeowner where the developer breached its agreement to purchase homeowner’s property. The Minnesota Court of Appeals affirmed the District Court’s decisions in favor of the homeowner, including findings that the homeowner was entitled to consequential damages and to attorneys’ fees for the developer’s breach. See Horace Mann Ins. Co. v. Ferguson, et. al., A07-1055, 2008 Minn. App. Unpub. LEXS 648 (Minn. App. June, 3, 2008).

Attorney Loren M. Solfest was honored by the Minnesota Valley YMCA as he completed his second term as a board member. Loren has been actively involved in area YMCAs over the last two decades and has served as chair and member of the board for the Minnesota Valley YMCA in Burnsville and the Southwest Area YMCA in Eagan. Over the years, he has received various awards, including the 2004 All Star Award from the Minnesota Valley YMCA and the Distinguished Leader Award in 1997 from the Southwest Area YMCA.

Michael G. Dougherty was recently nominated and unanimously accepted for an appointment to a five-year term on the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota Board of Trustees. Saint Mary's is a private, Catholic institution founded in 1912. The University's undergraduate campus is located in Winona and its Bachelor completion, graduate, professional, and certificate programs are offered in Winona, Minneapolis, Rochester, greater Minnesota, Wisconsin and Nairobi, Kenya.
